Opening this book, one expects special operator tactical war stories focused on sensational, testosterone driven heroism, tactics, and special gear. While some of these elements appear, they are not the focus of the presentation. Instead, in a volume dealing with British special forces involvement in Iraq from 2003 to 2008, Urban has done an excellent job of placing his subject within the context of US and British politics; American and British strategies; the operational plans; and finally the special forces campaign within that larger concept of operations.
