Organic and inorganic complex of dolinite in coal-bearing strata

A detailed study on intercalation of some organic and inorganic compounds in kaolinite that have volcanic origin in coal-bearing strata is made in this paper. The C-axis spacing in kaolinite expends to a largest value 1.14 nm by the intercalation of polar compound dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) into kaolinite. The expansion value is relatively stable, and the rather strong perturbation of the OH stretching on the intercalation is observed in IR spectra.
