USAF Official Discusses Budget The chapter hosted a luncheon at the Hanscom Air Force Base Minuteman Club in March featuring Blaise Durante, deputy assistant secretary for acquisition integration, U.S. Air Force. Durante shared his first-hand insight into Air Force budget issues in fiscal year 2011; the impacts of the Continuing Resolution Authority on the budget; the significant budget deficits facing the Air Force; and the acquisition streamlining initiatives being implemented to reap efficiencies and reduce costs. More than 160 government and industry participants attended the event, including Lt. Gen. Ted Bowlds, USAF, commander, Electronic Systems Center, and his senior staff. The chapter also presented science fair awards in the amount of $250 to Alison Stein and Edward Shin from Lexington High School, Lexington, Massachusetts. Dave LaRochelle, chairman of the chapter's board of directors, received his past president's pin from Bob Kennedy, regional vice president.
