At the Joint Warfighting Conference in May, Gen. James E. Cartwright, USMC (Ret.), former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke about the necessary changes that must take place with the nation's fighting forces coming out of two wars and preparing for what comes next. He said that the United States should expand the role of unmanned vehicles as it looks to add capabilities at a reasonable cost.
