New Protected Vehicles for Australian Army

The Australian Army's reserve forces are receiving new Protected Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) to replace the armored personnel carriers (APCs) they lost in 2007. Soldiers from the 4th/19th Prince of Wales' Light Horse (4/19PWLH) tested the 12.5-ton Bushmasters for the first time at a training weekend earlier this year. Personnel with the unit believe the transition is a step in the right direction as they learn about the PMVs' capabilities and limitations. Soldiers were concerned they might lose some of their skills after they stopped using the APCs, but the Australian Army says the PMV now is seen as one of its best platforms.
