摘要

IN 1946, during the transition from World War Ⅱ, a group of communicators led by Gen. Sarnoff established AFCEA from the U.S. Veterans Signal Association and the American Signal Corps Association, with the goal of promoting communication, dialogue and an open and ethical exchange of information between the public and private sectors. Gen. Sarnoff's expertise and vision in the world of communications and technology during the early to mid 20th century are equally noteworthy. In a December 1998 Time magazine article, Gen. Sarnoff was called the "father of broadcasting." His many accomplishments included spearheading the creation of the commercial television network NBC in 1941 and later ABC television after World War Ⅱ. The Time article also stated that Gen. Sarnoff regarded black-and-white TV as only a "transitional phase to color," and he even predicted the invention of the VCR.
