Airbus Helicopters recently completed the first flight demonstration of its Skyways commercial parcel delivery drone at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The drone was able to take off and land-docking at a specially designed parcel station-then load a package automatically via a robotic arm, deliver it and later reverse the process. Skyways can carry packages between about 4.5 and 9 pounds and reach a delivery area the size of about 150 football fields. The France-based company is planning to launch a trial service in Singapore in the coming months, after testing at NUS.
