The CCS standard - joining forces in Europe

The cooperation that the smartrail 4.0 project has launched in relation to standardising the architecture (RCA - rec-ommended CCS architecture) is rapidly gaining momentum. The planned system pillar will comprise the fundamental or-ganisational measures that will allow us to join forces in order to specify a uniform architecture with standardised interfaces for the entire CCS domain.The days of national railways defining their own country-spe-cific standards are coming to an end. The costs of company-spe-cific solutions are too high. The new RCA approach means that, together with the industry, we can now develop standards and compatible systems that no longer have to be produced and ap-proved for specific countries. The use of the latest technologies optimised for the ERMTS strategy (game changers) and the op-timised interlocking principles means that the current systems, which are reaching their performance limits, can be significantly improved and replaced modularly.
