The National Grid Company, or NGC, which owns and operates the high-voltage transmission system in England and Wales, relies on a £31 million energy management system (EMS) from Empros, a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based subsidiary of Siemens' Power Transmission and Distribution Division. Believed to be one of the largest and most advanced systems of its kind in the world, NGC's EMS has contributed to enhanced utilization of the transmission system with an improved level of reliability land lower costs.
