The Rays that Changed the World

This year marks a double jubilee for the medical and scientific communities. First of all, it is the 150th birthday of renowned physicist Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen, who was born on March 27th, 1845. And secondly, exactly a century ago, on November 8th, 1895, Rontgen discovered X-rays. In recognition of his trail-blazing discovery and research, Roentgen was awarded the first Nobel prize for physics in 1901. X-rays ushered in a new era in medicine and the natural sciences. Inseparably intertwined with this development are the names of the companies that first introduced equipment based on Rontgen's discovery.
