Recipe for Perfect Pulp

Celulose do Caima's Tejo river (Portugal) pulp facility is not exactly a run-of-the-mill plant. Equipped with a Siemens automation system running on fuzzy logic algorithms, the facility, which produces 90,000 tons of pulp per year from eucalyptus globulus trees, is extraordinarily efficient. Thanks to the introduction of fuzzy logic, power and raw material consumption have been slashed and the amount of waste has been sharply reduced.
