How will the management of corporate networks evolve to integrate management of voice, data, mobile and broadband subnetworks? This article describes an architecture based on comprising many different subnetwork managers and one umbrella manager. The resulting system uses a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and a Management Information Base (MIB). Its major goal is open interoperability between SNMP-based management systems and the TMN-oriented (Telecommunications Management Network) management of public networks.
