It really is an honor to receive an award named after Dean Morrough P. O'Brien, the person who gave us the term "coastal engineering." I knew Dean O'Brien by virtue of his membership on the U.S. Army Coastal Engineering Research Board or CERB, a board that can trace its origins back to the ASBPA. Γd like to tell you a little bit about him, his personality, and his contributions to the profession.
