London's Nordic Traders

This nostalgic review shows something of the wide variety of ships and shapes which, in their numbers, traded between London and the Nordic Countries - this only a few decades ago. Changes in the pattern of trade are inevitable, but it was the intransigence of labour in London's enclosed docks which caused old customers to move elsewhere to ports where attitudes were more flexible and pallet loaders made welcome - likewise the introduction of larger and faster ro-ro and container ships, which required a turnaround of hours not days.
