Almost as fast as one could say 'joint venture,' Carnival Corporation pulled out of an agreement with Star Cruises to share ownership in Norwegian Cruise Line. It appears that Carnival, with less than a half interest, would not have been able to exercise as much control as it would have liked over how NCL would be run. Shortly thereafter, NCL announced a number of fleet redeployments and made a general statement about expanding its fleet with newbuildings.
