Ferry Focus: Nils Holgersson

TT-Line introduced its very first ferry as Nils Holgersson back in 1962 and there has been a vessel of this name plying between the German port of Travemunde and Trelleborg, Sweden, ever since. Although TT-Line is now wholly German owned, the present Nils Holgersson is one of five vessels to the current seven-strong fleet registered in Sweden, a legacy of former years when TT-Line had long periods operating with different Swedish partners. The pattern of names, taken from characters to fairy tales and legend, dates from this period too, the fictional Nils Holgersson being a little Swedish boy who flew between adventures on the back of a goose!
