On 25th November, Carnival Corp. put in a bid of $1.7 billion to acquire NCL Holdings ASA, the corporate parent of Norwegian Cruise Line. Carnival and NCL, both based in Miami, are the first and fourth largest cruise ship operators. Carnival, whose cruise lines include Cunard, Seabourn, Holland America, Windstar and a majority holding in Costa, would add NCL, made up of Norwegian Cruise Line, Orient Lines and the joint Australian ventures of Norwegian Capricorn Line.
