Since its inception, the Stena Group has been an innovator and a company interested in taking on new challenges, especially if the results better meet a customer's needs. In the ferry sector this has seen a transformation of simple day crossings into something more akin to a cruise ship experience, with onboard sales normally accounting for more than 22 per cent of Stena Line's total annual revenue, and this is a large reduction from previous years because of duty-free restrictions. Stena has also worked to speed the loading and discharge times of its ferries and has improved transit times on several routes through the development of new high-speed vessels such as the twin-hull HSS series.
