Ferries of Ischia

Set like a jewel on the western edge of the Bay of Naples, the Italian island of Ischia enjoys long established ferry services to and from Naples and the adjacent islands. Several ferry companies link Ischia with the mainland. Medmar and Caremar (Campania Regionale Marittima s.p.a.) run to Naples (Molo Beverello), whilst the vessels of the Traghetti-Pozzuoli fleet, an associated company of Medmar, sail to the port of Pozzuoli, some ten miles west of Naples. Caremar also serve the nearby island of Procida. Medmar, together with Traghetti Pozzuoli claim to carry over 75 per cent of all traffic to and from Ischia. Medmar also incorporates Pozzuoli Ferries, whose single vessel was absorbed into Traghetti Pozzuoli in 2000. The fast passenger ferries of AliLauro serve both Naples terminals at Mergellina and Beverello as well as providing summer only services to Formia and Capri.
