One of the more unusual ships created for the US merchant marine, the Great Lakes cruise ferry Aquarama, was towed to Turkey this summer for scrap or conversion. Owners of the 62-year-old ship had previously announced plans to have the one-time troop transport converted into a luxury floating casino at a cost of $40 million, but most observers feel Turkey will be the aging vessel's final stop.
