With plans for a high speed cross-Forth link from the Fife shore to Edinburgh apparently stalled over funding, Pentland Ferries' owner Andrew Banks is proposing a 30-minute conventional ferry service between Burntisland and Granton for up to 300 passengers. The Orkney-based operator, who says a second route from Kircaldy to Methil could be added, believes it could be a commercial success without subsidies but would ask for local authorities to provide berths and shore facilities.
