Princess Cruises' Caribbean Princess' (2004/112,894gt) three-week refit in January at Freeport's Grand Bahama Shipyard saw a number of amenities found on the line's newer ships added. A large piazza-style atrium, with a new cafe and separate wine bar, now welcomes passengers when they first board the ship. At the top of the ship, an adults-only 'sanctuary' has been installed. Among the other changes are a more centrally located casino, a new boutique, redesigned shore excursions and Captain's Circle desks, a new internet cafe and library, and a new Crown Grill with an open kitchen. Flat-screen televisions were fitted in all cabins. Star Princess (2002/108,977gt) and Grand Princess (1998/108,806gt) have already been given similar makeovers, while Golden Princess (2001/108,865gt) is being refurbished in San Francisco between 16 April and 3 May.
