摘要

Franee was not sold initially, but remained laid up at Le Havre for four years, with the interiors still intact but with no plans for her to be scrapped or sold. However, in 1977 Saudi Arabian millionaire Akram Ojjeh purchased the ship for $24 million, but his proposals for her to become a museum ship were never realised. Eventually, she was sold in 1979 to Knut Kloster, owner of Norwegian Caribbean Lines, for $18 million, and she was converted into the world's largest cruise ship. In August 1979 she was moved to the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, where she was rebuilt and refurbished at a cost of $80,000,000, with modifications to make her better suited for cruising.
