Record-breaking Solent sailaway

For the second time in 2011 the port of Southampton played host to no fewer than six cruise ships on the same day. The facilities were stretched to the limit on 16 July, with severe congestion reported on the roads. The sailaway was led by Princess Cruises' Grand Princess (1O7,517gt/3,3OO passengers) at 1600, followed by Fred. Olsen Cruises' 43,537gt/1,230-passenger Balmoral.
