Another Antarctic casualty

The small expedition ship Polar Star (1969/4,998gt), operated by Halifax-based Polar Star Expeditions, struck an unchartered rock while in the Martha Strait, near Detaille Island in Antarctica, on 31 January. There were no injuries among the 80 passengers or 35 crew and, although her outer hull was breached, her inner hull remained intact and there was no oil spillage.
