HMS ORION

Orion was one of a class of five Leander class light cruisers and was built by HM Dockyard, Devonport in 1934. She measured 554ft 6in by 55ft 8in, and her four-shaft Parsons geared steam turbines gave her a top speed of nearly 33 knots. Her armament comprised eight 6-inch guns mounted in twin turrets, two forward and two aft, four 4-inch guns for AA defence, and eight 21-inch torpedo tubes. She carried a crew of around 570 officers and ratings.
