Essex aircraft carriers

The article on the Essex Class aircraft carriers (SM, March) stated that the astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong flew from the carriers. However, during the Korean War, John Glenn was an officer in the US Marine Corps, not a pilot in the Navy. Second, John Glenn did not fly off carriers during the Korean War. His first tour in Korea was with VMF-311 and he flew 63 missions in 1953. His second tour was as an exchange pilot with the US Air Force, and he flew F-86 Sabre jets. Obviously no aircraft carriers involved there, as the Air Force operated out of fixed bases.
