摘要

At the end of World War II much of the Royal Navy's fleet was old and worn out. The need to rebuild a fleet which faced new threats and technologies in a time of post-war austerity posed unprecedented challenges to designers. D. K. Brown, who worked as a Naval Constructor during this period, uses his personal knowledge to augment George Moore's in-depth archival research on declassified material to describe how designers responded.
