Pan Ocean expanding

South Korea's STX Pan Ocean is up for sale as its parent company, the STX Croup, attempts to unburden itself from mounting debt, but the Asian carrier is also continuing to build up its fleet. Over the past year STX Pan Ocean has taken delivery of five Handysize 35,000dwt bulk carriers, a 31,000dwt semi-submersible heavy-lifter and a 175,000dwt slurry iron sand carrier. This year it will add a further 23 ships, most of them bulk carriers, to serve existing long-term transportation contracts.
