The centenary celebrations for Earnslaw were held during Labour weekend, and people made a nostalgic journey from Kingston to Queenstown on the ship's official birthday, 18 October. 300 passengers traced her original freight and passenger route to the high country lakeside stations and Clenorchy on 21 October. So that passengers on the centenary sailing could get an idea of the operation, the vessel visited Walter Peak and Mount Nicholas, picking up wool bales and even loading a horse onto the bow.
