Radio role for ex-pirate

A former trawler, which spent ten years as the pirate radio station Radio Veronica, is being refitted to become a completely legal floating venue for radio and television broadcasting. Norderney was built in Hamburg in 1949 as the deep-sea steam trawler Paul J. Miiller, but was sold and took her present name in 1956. In 1964, while lying in a Dutch shipbreaking yard, she caught the eye of the Verweij brothers, who bought her for conversion to a radio ship, and by November of that year she was anchored off the Dutch coast and began broadcasting as Radio Veronica.
