INCATS RETAIN ATLANTIC RECORD FOR 25 YEARS

The 74m catamaran Hoverspeed Great Britain, built by Incat Tasmania, put North Atlantic speed records back into the international spotlight in 1990, beating the eastbound crossing time set as far back as July 1952 by the then new American passenger liner United States. Twenty-five years on, the imposing Hales Trophy remains on display in Hobart's Fast Ferry Museum after two further Incats, 91m sisters Catalonia, recently linking Scotland and Northern Ireland as P&O's Express, and the Danish-owned CatLink Ⅴ, now Fjord Cat, achieved even faster crossings.
