Already six months late in being delivered, AIDAprima (122,500gt), the first of two ships being built for Aida Cruises by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan, would be delayed by a further six months, it was announced in late July. As a result, the maiden voyage from Japan to Dubai has been cancelled, as has the entire winter season based at that port. Instead, AIDAprima will come straight from the shipyard to Europe in April 2016 - a year late - and take up her northern European itineraries from 30 April. She will be the first Aida ship to be based year-round in Hamburg.
