Genting Hong Kong, owner of Star Cruises and new owner of Crystal Cruises, has signed a letter of intent with Lloyd Werft for the construction of three 100,000-ton ice class ships for Crystal, each with a passenger capacity for only 1,000, the first of which is to be delivered in late 2018. Meanwhile, one of the small Star Cruises ships, Megastar Taurus, is to be transferred to the Crystal Fleet, creating a new super-luxury sub-brand. The 3,300-ton ship will carry just 62 passengers. Star Cruises has operated two boutique ships since 1995 in the private charter and VIP gambling markets. Megastar Aries and Megastar Taurus were built by Flender Werft at Lubeck in 1989 for Windsor Cruise Line as Lady Sarah and Lady Diana. Later they carried the names Aurora Ⅱ and Aurora Ⅰ.
