Incat for the Thames

Thames Clippers has placed an order for a 35m 150-passenger catamaran from Incat Tasmania. The contract was signed by Incat chairman Robert Clifford, who said: 'The role of the vessel is to provide rapid passenger transport services on the river Thames in Central London on various routes ranging from Putney in the west to Royal Woolwich Arsenal in the east. Incat Hull 075 is to be designed by One2Three Naval Architects, with assistance by Revolution Design, and follows last year's announcement of a partnership between Thames Clippers and credit card company MBNA, whose investment will support the catamaran's construction. The vessel (pictured) will be powered by two water jets rather than propellers, which most of the current fleet have.
