A Maritime Review of 2017 is the latest book published by the World Ship Society. It provides a snapshot of some of the events in the shipping industry during 2017, including ownership changes, notable deliveries, demolitions and losses.The year saw further consolidation in the container market, with the sale of OOCL, while mergers announced in 2016 were finalised. In the tanker market, Euronav merged with Gener8 Maritime and DHT Holdings bought BW Group's VLCC fleet. G2 Ocean, a joint venture between Gearbulk and Greig Star, was formed to operate fleets of dry cargo open-hatch bulk carriers.
