RED JET 7 • Red Funnel's Hi-Speed passenger catamaran Red Jet 7 marked one year of service in the Solent in July. Since her introduction she has travelled over 84,000 nautical miles, and completed 3,615 round trips and nearly half a million passenger journeys. She was built on the IOW by Wight Shipyard Co. TURKISH LINK • Aegean Seaways introduced a four-times-weekly connection between Lavrion, Greece and Cesme in Turkey, using the 1,570-lane-metre/289-passenger Kaunas (25,606gt) to establish a sea alternative to a long overland road journey. Built in 1989 by the Mathias-Thesen-Werft, Wismar as one of a five-ship series for Lithuanian operator Lisco, she became Kaunas Seaways when she was bought by DFDS in 2012, and ran in their colours until a move to the Eastern Mediterranean after being purchased by Aegean Seaways last year.
