PEARL'S UNKNOWN FUTURE

After completing her final cruise, a 54-night epic voyage to South Africa and back, Saga Pearl II was withdrawn from service with Saga. Her final cruise was not without difficulty, as the ship suffered problems with her air-conditioning system. She concluded her cruise in Portsmouth on 11 April and then sailed to Portland, where she remained for a week. By the time she left the Dorset port, she was renamed Pearl II and registered under the ownership of Aqua Explorer Holdings, a British Virgin Islands-registered company that was formed this year. After a slow run to Piraeus, where she arrived on 30 April, Pearl II received attention in the shipyard at Perama.
