MEXICAN BULKER BREAKS UP

The Mexican-flagged bulk carrier Los Llanitos, which stranded at Barra de Navidad, Jalisco on the Mexican Pacific coast in October 2015 during the passage of Hurricane Patricia, is gradually breaking up, near the tourist centre of Puerto Vallarta. Tsavliris Salvage and subcontractor Resolve Marine Group removed 11,400 litres of oil and 490m~3 of diesel from the ship in late 2015, but salvage efforts have yet to get under way and may be doomed by the ship's current condition.
