Russia's Vyborg Shipyard has launched the icebreaker Ob for FSUE Atomflot as the nuclear agency's first non-nuclear-powered icebreaker. The 89.2m by 21.9m ship is instead powered by three medium-speed main generating sets driving four ice-strengthened azimuth propulsionunits, each with a shaft output of 3000 kW to provide a bollard pull of 115 tons.
