LR to reineroduce nuke rules for ships

L loyd's Register is to reintroduce rules for nuclear propulsion, after agreeing the need for changes to rules and procedures given the introduction of new technologies and approaches to marine safety and environmental protection.During the annual meeting of the Lloyd's Register Technical Committee, whose members include shipbuilders, shipowners and technical experts, the classification society presented a draft of provisional rules for nuclear propulsion in merchant ships after an increasing number of requests shipowners and shipbuilders asking for help in understanding how to manage nuclear power.
