Zamil to build two new shipyards in Saudi

Zamil Offshore is embarking on an ambitious expansion plan intended to increase its standing in the international ship building and repair sector. Saudi Arabia's most prominent shipbuilder and shipowner will begin the construction of a new $130M shipyard facility in Dammam, on the Kingdom's east coast, followed by a new facility dedicated to naval newbuilding and repair in ]izan, in the west, on the Red Sea. Construction work for the 200 000m2 facility at Damman, to comprise a floating dock and nine-drydocks, will start later this year, while the Jizan facility is expected to be operational in 2014.
