Despite a scarcity of newbwld orders at some shipyards, Hanjin Heavy industries and Construction (HHIC) appears unaffected by the downturn, having won a number of newbuilding contracts this year.In the course of the first three months of this year, the Korean shipbuilder signed a letter of intent for eight 5400TEU containerships for undisclosed European interests, won a bid to build 6800TEU containerships for Greek owner Technomar, signed an agreement to build its first gas carrier-a 38 000m~3 LPG carrier-for Exmar, and, in a contract valued at US$300M, an offshore supply vessel for a European owner.
