Hempel product sales hit record

Last year the Hempel Group achieved its highest ever activity level, together with its licensees, selling a total of 173m litres of Hempel products, compared with 154m litres in 1999. This produced a turnover of DKr3.8bn ($454.1m), an increase of 17% over 1999 (DKr3.3bn). Net profit before tax was DKr239m. The turnover of those companies where Hempel is majority shareholder increased from DKr2.2bn in 1999 to DKr2.4bn in 2000 and showed a net profit before tax of DKr90m, which is a decrease of DKr32m compared with 1999. The overall result of the group was negatively influenced by the dramatic increase in raw material prices, as well as large fluctuations in foreign currencies.
