Maintenance costs grow in importance for high speed craft

The use of high speed patrol boats, according to information published by Hamilton Jet of New Zealand, has increased substantially over recent months -not only following 11 September 2001; but as a result of increased illegal traffic, such as drug running or immigration issues. As a result, more agencies are using high speed vessels, and those vessels are seeing changed usage patterns, patrolling faster, over greater distances, with fewer boats held in reserve, and less time allocated for maintenance.
