Simulation software helps port development

MarineSafety International (MSI) of the USA has applied its expertise in maritime simulation to assist plans for expansion of the US port of Tacoma. Working with the Port of Tacoma, ship operator Evergreen, the Puget Sound Pilots Association and the engineering firm of Moffatt & Nichol Engineers, MSI San Diego developed a numerical model for the planned Blair Waterway and the Pierce County Terminal, which are being considered for expansion to accommodate Evergreen Shipping Company's E-class container ships.
