Next generation trimaran from Austal unveiled

Austal has announced the launch of a new platform currently under construction at its Western Australian shipyard. Optimising performance and fuel efficiency are just some of the considerations that the shipyard has taken with regards to this design.rnAustralian shipbuilder Austals new 102m loa trimaran is an evolved version of its 2005 build Benchijigua Express, with a renewed focus on optimising performance, seakeeping, fuel efficiency, passenger comfort and payload capacity.rnThe vessel will utilise Austals existing trimaran technology, which combines the softer roll of monohulls with the low resistance, stability and carrying capacity of regular catamarans, opening up new potential markets beyond the existing fast ferry designs. A lower roll speed allows lower accelerations experienced by passengers - thereby significantly reducing passenger seasickness.
