UK boat designer Camarc has been specialising in pilot boats for international shipbuilders for some time now, but this year sees the deliveries of four Camarc sisterships, built at four separate yards for four different customers. The vessels comprise an extension of the existing Camarc 16m alloy pilot boat design, comprising a propeller-driven craft designed to handle a speed range of between 20-28knots. The first two craft of the quartet, which were launched in June this year, were constructed by Alnmaritec, at its Blyth yard, and by Woody Marine, of Melbourne, Australia. Each boat features a twin Caterpillar C18 installation, driving through Twin Disc gearboxes, with the engines rated at 526kW at 2 lOOrpm.
