Alicat delivers first 23m model to Dalby

UK wind farm service vessel operator Dalby Offshore has secured the 10th wind park support vessel in its fleet, courtesy of Alicat Workboats, in the form of the 23m Dalby Swale. This particular vessel represents the first of Alicats crew transfer vessels built with extended waterlines, for optimised fuel efficiency and greater onboard space for the turbine technicians. Length aside, Dalby Swale retains the features of Alicat's established 21m loa support vessels; principally, a 7.4m beam, a 1.1m draught and a lightship displacement of 45tonnes. The vessel is powered by twin MAN V12-1400 diesel engines, rated 1,030kW apiece, driving Rolls-Royce FF5000 waterjets. Sea trials have proven the vessel capable of achieving a speed in excess of 25knots when sailing with full tanks and a full 12-passenger complement, increasing to 32knots in lightship conditions.
