Finland's Navis Engineering has won a contract to supply its JP4000 Joystick Control System to Drettmann Yachts for a 24m Explorer Series newbuild, currently under construction at Acico Yachts, in the Netherlands. The yacht, designed by Drettmann and Focus Yacht Design, will, upon delivery this year, feature a 6.76m beam and a top speed of 13knots. The JP4000, which was developed to simplify manoeuvring, mooring and docking operations, particularly for superyachts, will be used to control electrical podded thrusters installed in the Explorer's stern azimuth and bow tunnels, which were installed as such to limit noise and vibration.
